Interestingly textured eyeballs

Actually, this morning is even worse than I anticipated, being as how I was assailed in the early hours of the morning by a fit of in-fucking-somnia. I tossed and turned until after 3:00, and got barely five hours' sleep.

Understand, this never happens me. I am a champion sleeper, and I cope very badly on this little.

And no, it didn't help that I stayed up until 1:00 reading e-mail, and then had a major Too-Late-For-Logic fit of self-excoriation (read: dramatic dissolution into damp, snivelling shards, gathered expertly if sleepily together by niallm, peace be upon him).

I hate the end of holidays. I really do.

At least the weather's manky - an odd thing for which to be thankful, you might think, but it means that I'm not looking covetously out the window and wishing I could go and play in the sunshine.

Caffeine shot and retail therapy

Feeling considerably better now, after a wise and witty lunch in the Alliance with glitzfrau (we didn't spend the entire time talking about our online entities either, I swear), complete with a pot of tea to wake me up. (I don't do caffeine generally.)

Afterwards we went to Carphone Warehouse, where I shelled out an inordinate sum in return for a Nokia 6310i, which I had to get because it was the only option with the correct form factor (see? I do jargon) for the car kit.

So my credit card is in shock, but I'm pleased, because with a bit of luck the new phone won't crash at random intervals not exceeding four hours, throw conniption fits and forget who it is whenever I look sharply at it, vary dull afternoons by derecognising the sim for no discernible reason other than primadonnaishness, or, in short, exhibit any of the little foibles that have grown so tediously familiar to me of late in dealing with its predecessor.

(Plus it's got a very sexy spec, which, as Glitz points out, is a thing to gladden my heart. We likes our gadgetry, we does.)
