Whither October?

I don't know how this happens. I close my eyes, turn my head a fraction of a degree, open my eyes again and find that ten days have gone by. It's worrying. October seems to have disappeared into the same hole down which September bolted a few minutes ago. Oh, my ears and whiskers.
