A brief and rambling update
Aug. 18th, 2003 11:58 pmBeware: a three-day training course last week taught me all I need to know in order to get managerial on your ass if you give me any lip. (Why does that sound so rude?) It was, mind you, the worst week so far this year, give or take, for me to be away from the office. I was reduced to going in early (aaaughhh! hnnnnggghhh!) to send urgent e-mails. I felt like, I don't know, a private-sector worker or something. *shudder*
The weekend involved attending, and then recovering from, a wedding in Co. Leitrim. There was also a certain amount of lunching at my parents' house, some gentle entertainment of a visitor from England, and an impressive - yet somehow still achingly insufficient - quantity of sleep.
Today I did my standard Monday morning Hit-the-Ground-Running routine, and had a reasonably efficient day. Still a mountain of work to climb by Friday, but what's new?
The fatigue of the day was nicely relieved by no fewer than four episodes of Babylon 5 in the company of the lovely
olethros. (Yes, it is my first time watching the series - no spoilers, please!) We've now seen episodes 1-17 of Series 1, and things are becoming decidedly interesting... It's like a fat nineteenth-century novel - Middlemarch, say - with spaceships and aliens. Very impressive.
Unfortunately, it didn't do much for the vague headache I've been harbouring since mid-afternoon. Sleep, on the other hand, may: good night.
