News from the side
Feb. 10th, 2004 03:02 pmI'm languishing at home this week. My tendonitis got a bit better, so I stupidly started using my right hand again, and then found myself in agony for two and a half days: couldn't lift my upper arm away from my body at all without a burst of truly wincey, grunty pain.
Off with me yesterday, therefore, to
niallm's avuncular doctor - or, to be accurate, his brusque and gabbling locum. Another €40, in return for an assurance that this problem is likely to recur and that physiotherapy probably wouldn't do much good. Also a med cert for work, which was the object of the exercise. Rest for the offending arm, says her doctorship, as complete as possible, and probably best to stay home until Thursday or so.
So I fashioned a rude sling to keep the arm out of mischief, and sat on the sofa for most of the day reading P.G. Wodehouse, and today things seem considerably better. Lulling me into a false sense of security, it is; I shall not be fooled.
Reckon I'll just go and get all my tendons removed, is what. Who needs them? More trouble than they're worth.
In other news, I gave Best Known to Herself the kiss of life. It's still in a critical condition, but the latest prognoses are reasonably optimistic. Visitors are welcome, as long as you're quiet and don't excite or upset the patient...
