A different sort of quiz
Mar. 28th, 2003 11:13 amFound this questionnaire that purports to calculate your "ecological footprint" in my travels last night.
It's US-focused (not a bad thing - just not clear how relevant these metrics are to someone living in Ireland), and fairly crude, but I found it interesting all the same.
One thing that struck me: modern Western society (at least) seems to equate "high standard of living" with "high degree of irresponsible consumption and waste". That's a bit twisted, to say the least. Is it, do you think, the result of decades of You Want It! You Need It! ad campaigns, or is it just that humans always tend to want something for nothing?
