Sep. 29th, 2005 11:35 am- 10 years ago (1995): Just about to start into the final year of my undergraduate degree. Having a rather h0tt and fun affair with
glitzfrau's boyfriend (their relationship was open at the time).
- 5 years ago (2000): Living in Domestic Bliss™ with
niallm, in our overstuffed but homely flat. Working in my current job for almost six months, and enjoying it very much.
- 1 year ago: Baby. Baby baby baby baby baby. Baby. Very small baby. BABY.
- Tomorrow: Assist in getting the three of us out the door; bring the Oyster to the creche; go to work; fret around trying to finish the stuff I didn't do earlier in the week because I was too tired; collect the Oyster; attempt a smooth dinner and bedtime routine; eat; slump in front of garden porn; maybe actually have some uninterrupted interaction with
niallm; just possibly progress on some of the stuff I do that is not related to work or child; respond when the Oyster squawks; go to bed.
- 5 snacks I enjoy: Green & Black's chocolate; pecan nuts; raisins; popcorn; hot buttered toast. Ooh, peckish now.
- 5 bands/artists that I know the lyrics to most of their songs: Leonard Cohen, Pink Floyd, Paul Simon, Billy Bragg, Kate Bush.
- 5 things I would do with a $100,000,000: Pay off debts and arrange a somewhat-more-than-comfortable annual income for my household (maybe 1.5 what it now is); buy houses/apartments for my friends in cities of their choice; fix ALL the niggly little things that are wrong with my living space (which might or might not involve moving house); start a school on the Sudbury Valley model, with lots of scholarships, preferably located in some covetable city-centre site that developers would just LOVE to build eggbox flats in, ha ha; set up a charitable foundation and hire competent administrators to spend the rest of the dosh on causes that I'm passionate about. Hi, when does my cheque arrive?
- 5 locations I would like to run away to: THE LAND OF NOD. But thereafter, Paris, rural Italy, Sydney, the big tree in my paternal grandmother's garden when I was ten.
- 5 bad habits I have: Procrastination, perfectionism, bad posture, staying up too late, picking at my skin.
- 5 things I like doing: Sleeping, playing with my lovely son, writing, reading, making things.
- 5 things I will never wear: Knickers made of synthetic fabric, cheap high-heeled shoes, bare legs unless my varicose veins improve dramatically (*WEEPS*), anything adorned with a Hilarious Sexist Slogan, a uniform.
- 5 T.V. shows I like: Yes [Prime] Minister (counted as one show), Monty Python's Flying Circus (mainly for the nostalgia), Spaced, Babylon 5, Buffy.
- 5 people I'd like to meet: Mary Wollstonecraft, John Holt, Radegund of Poitiers, an ordinary woman from Viking Dublin,
brandnewgun (so YAY for impending Dublin visit!).
- 5 biggest joys at the moment: Oisín,
niallm, the return to our shores of La Glitz (less of a joy for her, unfortunately), my four-day week, my neck pillow.
- 5 favo[u]rite toys: Anything that keeps the Oyster occupied for more than about two minutes is a big hit with me!
