I'd love if I were kind of Back now, but we'll see how it goes.

The past ... well, actually the past four months, when I look back, have been hectic and chaotic to an almost unbearable extent. It was high summer the last time I felt I had a fairly reasonable handle on daily life, which is a bit scary. That was when we started the garden project, which sort of morphed seamlessly into the house project, which ate the autumn and much of the pre-Christmas period.

The winter festivities were, as usual, busy and great fun, but I'm seriously partied out now, and would prefer, on the whole, if I could interact with people in groups of no more than about three or four for the foreseeable future. Highlights included our own party, which was quiet but very convivial; Christmas morning and the discovery that Santa Claus had left a TRIKE for the Oyster; a quick trip up to Belfast to see the northern rellies, where we stayed with Niall's uncle and the aunt who's a play therapist and had box after box of magnificent toys for Unny to play with; [livejournal.com profile] londonn7's wedding, which was a blast from start to finish; and New Year's Eve, which we divided between a dinner party with Niall's college friends and a party-party with my college friends. There was dancing. There was drinking (more at LN7's wedding than I've had on any occasion since I found out I was pregnant with Oisín ... good thing he was staying with my parents for the night). There were mountains of presents.

And now there is a shiny new year, and the steadfast hope that we will get the house into some reasonable shape before too long, and the prospect of a visit from [livejournal.com profile] cangetmad and the GNOME to relieve the doldrums of January.

Happy 2007, one and all!

We have just been discussing the Visit and are very excited about it. Not least, in my case, because I won't have to be in my messy disastrous house for a few days.

You can come to *our* messy disasterous house instead :-)

(No joke - going to a place where someone else is responsible for the mess can be incredibly relaxing...)

Yes, indeed, wheras going to someone's tidy pristine house, particularly with a toddler, is just dispiriting and hard work.

oh god yes. Glitz and I lay in bed last night celebrating that Real Life starts again today. With, like, reasonable bedtimes and everything! I never thought I'd be so pleased to see my thesis.

However, I do want to come over some time as I've a house present for you, with a somewhat time-critical element. Also, I haven't seen Oisín for AGES. And tricycle!

Would be lovely to see you any time that suited you (well, you know, within the normal constraints of civil social interaction). We don't have many daytime plans for the rest of the week (I'm trying to keep Oisín fairly quiet, since he still has a cough), so just give me a ring whenever. Oh, he'll be with K on Friday afternoon, but other than that.
