No, didn't think so.

But I thought it worth asking here, before listing it on Freecycle, whether anyone would like (or knows anyone who would like) to own the ninth edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica:

It dates from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and it has sentimental value for me as it was rescued by my grandparents in the 1960s when they left the house that came with my grandfather's job. It was in my bedroom at home, and my parents recently declared that they wanted it gone. I've searched my heart and concluded that I really can't justify making space for it in our house. *sniff* (NB: This represents Progress in the matter of combatting my hoarding problem. I'm trying to focus on that.)

Unfortunately, it's incomplete - of 35 volumes altogether, vols 10 and 34 are missing - so I doubt it has any commercial value. Most of the volumes are in good condition; a few have slight spine damage. It's beautifully printed and illustrated, and each volume is incredibly heavy. Total shelf length required to house it: a bit less than 2.3m, by my estimate.

If you live in Dublin (or region, within reason) and want it, we'll gladly drive it to you - though in my Delicate Condition, I won't be doing any of the actual lifting.

Looks as though [livejournal.com profile] gothwalk and [livejournal.com profile] inannajones beat you to it :-) If you're very nice to them, they might let you have a go...

Yes, I only saw Nina's comment after I posted mine. They'd probably use them more than I would anyway, but yes, I shall have to see about visiting, particularly to look at the technology material (does it even *have* an entry for technology?)
