You know the way I said...
Dec. 8th, 2007 03:32 pm...it could be any day?
Well, as readers of
niallm's LJ know, it was Wednesday!
Fiachra James Ó Cuilleanáin Murphy was born at 8:09am on Wednesday 5 December 2007 (a week before his due date), in our spare room, after a longish (14-hour) but otherwise very smooth labour. He weighed in at 3.83kg (8lb 7oz), and was delivered with the help of the Holles St Community Midwives (three of them, as he was born right on the shift change!) and my beloved Niall, all of whom rock. The homebirth experience was really great: I felt in control, supported and safe throughout, and able to focus entirely on the work I had to do - more or less exactly the experience I'd been hoping for, in short.
Soon I hope to grab time to write a more detailed birth story, but for the moment, have two pictures, which do an entirely inadequate job of capturing Fiachra's extreme magnificence :-)
First snooze in a sling:

Small bundle with startlingly youthful-looking Daddy:

Date: 2007-12-09 11:43 am (UTC)Re nappies, I blush. Early last week I said to myself, "I wonder if Eleanor has posted those nappies yet?" - and then, "Oh. Possibly not, given that I never sent her my address. Oops. Must do that, so."
Then I went and had a baby instead.
But yes, I do want them, and thank you very much again for the offer. My address should be in your inbox as of now.

Date: 2008-01-16 09:29 pm (UTC)Good lord, no need to ask my permission! I'm only seeing this now - my attendance at the keyboard has been patchy of late... I've seen you around the place, so I've friended you back :-)
