I don't really feel as if I had a weekend.

Saturday: Rose with lark bastards to drive to Galway for a meeting at 11:30; managed to arrive the merest ten minutes late; met; drove back to Dublin; home via supermarket; cooked and ate; read e-mail; footled around online; crashed into the bliss of my soft bed.

Sunday: Rose with lazy larks (i.e. 8:45 rather than 7:15) to go and sing to the lord; returned (after choir's ritual coffee and chocolate), via supermarket (for the things I forgot on previous evening) and chemist, at about 1:30; made a list, and from then until 1:00 a.m. did nothing that wasn't on the list except for eat lunch and dinner and drink tea with a friend who called around for half an hour at 7:30. Listed achievements included: driving recycling to the bring centre, lots of laundrifyin', changing light-bulbs, emptying and washing the kitchen compost bin, maybe three hours in the garden (planting out sunflowers and other things, mourning over sweet-pea seedlings devoured by fucking snails), watering every plant in the house, reading several hundred e-mails and designing the poster for the next Mornington Singers concert. That wasn't everything on the list, but I was pretty pleased with myself by the time I called it a night.

Monday: Rose with ... you get the picture. Not enough sleep. Utterly useless day at work. Home via supermarket (this is getting alarming!). Footled around until [livejournal.com profile] niallm came home (from being away since Saturday), then a friend who's over from Chicago came round for dinner - which I resisted every urge to cook from scratch, relying instead on tubbed soup and jarred pesto on packetted pasta. Left the boys ogling each other's Mac laptops and went to finalise the Mornington poster (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] inannajones, for the Finnish assistance!) and update my other journal (with backdated entries, because I'm devious that way - but they were started on the days in question), once with some grim introspection and once with some light and fluffy garden photos. Then I realised that I'd forgotten to do a programme cover to go with the poster. Designing that and sending both files off to the printer took me up to 1:00. Bloody again.

And today I really have to get some work done, so I'm rationing my LJ visits to once at lunchtime and maybe once before going home. We'll see how it goes...

But no! Did you not see? There was not one, but two instances of footling in the above account alone! Surely that is laziness enough for a lifetime...

No, I take your point, really.

Any suggestions for ways to idle away the long weekend?

Come cycling up to Enniskerry or out to Bray o.s. with me and stop for pints on the way back...

Hold court in Odessa on Sunday with a vast pile of newspapers...

Go on a crazed clothesbuying binge...

Come swimming, in the sea if the weather allows...

Yay! Any or all of these things will be attempted, weather permitting.

That said, I'm on the lookout for more slothful activities too...

(Readers may note the dichotomy between Glitz's "how will I manage to burn off all the extra energy with which I will inevitably be fizzing this weekend?" and Radzer's "with what languid and gentle endeavours will I fill the inordinately small number of hours I plan to be awake?")
