And again

Well, I'm back. I've been back since Saturday night, actually, but I'm only just catching up online.

Ha! That's such a lie: I'm nowhere near caught up - I still have thousands of e-mails to read. No, really, several thousand. The last few months have not been kind to my discussion-list habit.

But on LJ, at least, I'm all up to date. And I even managed an entry on my other journal last night (backdated, as has been my wont lately, but that's all stopping now - Forward-Thinking Radzer is in the ascendant).

Work's insane, and will be for the next four to six weeks, but I am reasonably confident that I can handle it, provided I pull out all the stops. (They're almost all pretty much out, mind you, but I'm sure I can muster up a few more...somewhere...)

Home is fairly unhinged as well, since [livejournal.com profile] niallm has a book draft to deliver on Friday, and I've got all those e-mails to read, as well as various bits of home-improvement stuff to plan and, oh, laundry and houseplants and stuff.

Novel is stable: wrote 1300 words on holidays, which is frankly 1300 more than I expected to write, so that gave me a bit of a boost. Nothing done since our return, but I had a nice little plot idea while walking to work this morning (actually, hey, that's an excellent reason for not always cycling - much better than "I sometimes feel like wearing a skirt"). I can finish it. I will finish it. And then I will edit the fuck out of it until it's fit for human consumption. And then I will find a human in a position of editorial responsibility who is willing to facilitate its consumption by thousands of other humans. And it will be good. And meanwhile, I will write the next one. You see? I have it all worked out.

Sleep, for the moment, however, is of the essence.
