1. I seem to have fallen into yet another mini-hiatus. The other place is getting a little more attention this week, mind you. Time is an elusive commodity. (And I'm about a week behind on reading LJ, so if you get comments from me on ancient stuff you'll know why...)

2. I bought new plum-coloured corduroy trousers yesterday. They are cords! And they're not low-rise! And they're the colour of plums! Hooray!

3. I have observed a depressing phenomenon: I feel most motivated at work when I'm not getting any writing done. When my writing is going well (and at the moment, it's going better than it has in months), I sit at work all day and I just. don't. care. This week I've been dragging out the simplest of tasks, doing anything rather than what I actually need to get done, and the voiceover in my head just keeps repeating, "When do we get to stop this? You know, the bit where we never have come in here and sit at this desk and read these endless articles, ever ever ever again? Will it be soon? Please?" This is not conducive to meeting my utterly unmissable print deadline in late October. It'll be a hard slog even with normal levels of motivation; the way I've been this week I'm afraid it might just fall apart altogether.

On the other hand, my writing's going really well, so who cares! Eek!

Not low-rise? Huh? Does not compute. Waistlines no longer exist, didn't you get the memo?

I'm hoping that NaNoWriMo will kill my writer's block.

As fashion reveals more and more of the wearer, concealment and trickery with regard to body shape become less and less possible. When the desired silhouette was achieved with padding and squeezing, even those who didn't conform to the ideal could make some stab at faking it. Nowadays, if you want that Skeletal Waif look, you actually have to starve yourself.

But hooray for Marks and Spencer for stocking trousers that hold me belly in!

NaNoWriMo! I'd forgotten about its existence! Not for me this year, I think, since I've already committed myself to finishing this fucker by the end of the year. I certainly couldn't take a month off to do something else and still manage it.

Perhaps next year. And much good luck to you!

Starving myself still wouldn't work - my hips and pelvis would look outright bovine. I'm not much into concealment and trickery, but I'd sure appreciate clothes that fit.

That, and interesting female characters in books.
