Women in comfortable shoes
Sep. 22nd, 2003 02:37 pmPrimarily for the attention of
glitzfrau: my new Birkenstocks have arrived! Just in time for the end of the sunny weather! Hooray!
I took Glitz up on her kind offer to replace my old pair (shabby but still eminently serviceable: they'll go in the clothing bin at the recycling centre), and she posted them to me before leaving Germany. I got back from lunch and there they were, in my office pigeonhole in the hall.
My feet, clad today in my urban-witchy slightly heely lace-up boots, are already anticipating the new-Birk happy dance that will take place when I get home.
(Thick and fast, the updates are coming today. It's because I have so little to do at work, you understand.)

Date: 2003-09-22 03:08 pm (UTC)Around the house, certainly - but as you know, I'll happily wear pretty much anything around the house.
(Mind you, sometimes this catches up with me. I was trying out my new baby pink Lipfinity one day a few months ago, and I also happened to be gardening, so I was in my muddy, smelly old clothes, dishevelled beyond belief, and covered in sweat, scratches and bits of plant. The Blue Voyager called around for tea, and it was only when we were sitting and sipping that I noticed she could barely keep from giggling at me. Eventually I worked out that it was my appearance that was amusing her. Then - I'm slow sometimes - I remembered the lipstick, which of course was still kiss-perfect. I did, it must be confessed, look inordinately silly.)
But no. Birks and socks in public: I don't think I can quite go there. Sigh. Bring on the sartorial defiance of old age, say I.
