I just totted up the final cost of external copy-editing on the journal we're working on at the moment, and compared it to my initial estimate.

The final figure was a mere 55 euros above the estimate! I can budget!

Hoo-ah!

I'm disproportionately enormously proud of my ability to budget and to estimate costs, forecast result dates, etc. This is silly, because I have no idea how I do any of this - it's either inherited or achieved by osmosis.

On the other hand, I really enjoy producing Big Dinners, because I can distinctly remember the first time I tried, and it was a disaster.
