Parenthood
Jun. 4th, 2004 02:17 pmWe met a three-month-old person yesterday evening, who was ridiculously cute even when nonchalantly emitting long streams of ecru vomit. I even got to hold him for a bit - and he forbore to throw up on me, which further raised his stock in my eyes. Hefty, he was, too - I see well-developed biceps in my future.
*******
When I was walking to work today I saw two adult swans herding a fivesome of cygnets up the canal. The babies were paddling furiously and making slow progress; the adults glided in arcs.
*******
The other day at lunchtime a man sitting on a doorstep called to me, "Any spare change to help the homel-" (then seeing my bump) "ah, sorry - congratulations!" I gave him a euro, which he embarrassedly tried to refuse.
