So I'm at home with my diarrhoeaceous darling again today. We're finally convinced that it is probably infectious, in which case he can't go to creche until it's gone. [livejournal.com profile] niallm and I will be working in shifts until then. The BIG plus to this, of course, is that I get to play with him. (At least when he isn't asleep - he's not showing any signs of being ill other than needing to sleep more than usual.) He's been pronounced fit and well by three doctors now, all except for the Bad Nappies, so I'm not too worried. We're seeing a paediatrician next week, and getting a sample analysed before then, so progress is being made.

(And I keep going around singing "show me a motion, tra-la-la-la-la", because I'm odd that way.)

Then there was the bit where last week's ailment turned out not to be chicken pox after all, but a viral rash. Nothing to worry about, apparently. Means he probably will get the pox another time, though, because it's making its way around the creche at the moment.

He's really getting on top of the rolling thing - seems to be finally realising the point of being on his front. Crawling is not far off - yes, [livejournal.com profile] ailbhe, you're now entitled to point and laugh :-) - and, frankly, he can take his time as far as I'm concerned, for this has to be one of the least childproof houses in the known universe. He was spinning along the rug in [livejournal.com profile] gothwalk, [livejournal.com profile] inannajones and [livejournal.com profile] olethros's front room yesterday, delighted with himself. (This was in the intervals of gazing adoringly at [livejournal.com profile] gothwalk, of course, who turns out to exert a magnetic fascination...) Unfortunately, he then had a Dramatic Nappy Event, which necessitated a precipitous departure and a complete change of clothes for both of us ... but what are you going to do?

Thank you all so very much for your lovely comments, by the way. Some day I'd like to be in a position to actually carry on conversations I start, but ... well ... I'm not there at the moment!

BabyDan playpen room-divider thing. You *need* one if he's going to crawl before you have time to sell all your worldly goods. And he'll enjoy pulling himself up on it, so it won't be bad.

We got ours in a Mothercare sale; I've never seen them going for full price.

DNEs are a fact of life; my most exciting one was while lunching at a pavement cafe nearby. I carried Linnea home because she was too icky to put in the buggy, changed both our clothes, and returned to finish my lunch.

The mothers I was lunching with still laugh aloud whenever it's mentioned.

Glad O seems fine apart from when actually covered in poo. Hurrah for playing!

A.

I think I've seen that room divider in some of your photos. Looks useful. Will investigate!

He's got to a stage now that I remember you describing a while ago with Linnea, where I'll turn away for a few seconds and turn back to find him in a completely different part of the room. (Usually complaining because he can't roll through a chair leg, or similar.) Unnerving...

I have also recently discovered the Kiddyguard safety gate. I will definitely be posting about how that goes in practice. Could be very useful for hallways and things.

Diarrhoeaceous is an astounding word. I do hope I don't have occasion to use it any time soon.
