OK, I've asked several questions on this meme, so now I'd better muck in and do my bit...

How many times has someone on your friends list posted about something and you were really confused, but you didn't want to ask because you knew you SHOULD know? How many times have you felt 'guilty' asking a close LJ friend a question that should be 'obvious'?

Well, here's your chance.

If you've missed a few things, missed an entry and are confused, ask me any thing. Even something EXTREMELY basic, like where I live! I'm not allowed to get even slightly irritated at any of the questions - we've all missed things before. In turn, though, you must repost this in your own journal. ;)

He showed up at a party in my house in the company of a friend of La Glitz's, September 1995. He loomed in a leather jacket and long hair, and drank milk. Beyond that, I didn't pay him much notice, as he was clearly neither (a) damaged, (b) nasty, (c) feckless, (d) mad, (e) mercurial or (f) all of the above, so he didn't fit into My Taste In Men at the time. (Ah, those were the days.)

We were in each other's outer orbits for years, then, before we decided to move into a flat together, as a matter of convenience and friendship (Niall wanted to move to a bigger flat; first Helen said she might share with him, but then she found somewhere better sooner - the house in Drumcondra, as it happens - and suggested me as a substitute). We moved in without an inkling of what would transpire. Took us ... um ... *shuffles feet* eight days to confess that we had completely fallen for each other. And that was very much that.

Fairly prosaic, I'm afraid. The two of us went through lists of names and each made a shortlist, then we had power of veto on each other's shortlists and ranked the survivors. So we came up with about three front runners for each sex, then brainstormed with surnames and middle names until we had a male name and a female name to take to hospital.

Brain has gone soft with all the law I've been reading. Will find out, when less addled, how to post comments without being an anonymous stalker. Must think of clever name first, of course...

It was certainly on my CAO form, because I filled that in all the way to the bottom (taking a perverse but, in retrospect, entirely pointless pleasure in putting Law ninth); however, the chances of my not getting my top choice - English and French - were (not to be smug) pretty slim, so I can't say I considered it seriously, no.
