So, it's eleven o' clock and I'm beginning to think lunchy thoughts. Usually, around this time of the morning I decide where I'll eat, based on whatever flavour inclination is uppermost at the time. Some days I'd be happy with a range of things. This morning, though, I have a very strong desire for garlic. I want a dish that's dripping with the stuff.

But here's the thing: I can't think offhand of any of my usual haunts that will serve me a decently garlicky lunch. And it occurs to me that heavily garlicked food probably isn't so popular among the luncherati of Dublin 2. Many of them must, after all, spend the rest of the day impressing clients and bosses, for which purposes a knock-out Mediterranean miasma probably wouldn't be the foremost asset.

There you go. Any ideas, send them my way!

From this morning's paper in proof: "Mariadac" king of Limerick is cited in an English Roll under the year 1210.

My Tolkien-nerd muscle isn't very developed, but it gave a little twitch when I read this. "Mariadac" > "Meriadoc"? It's just the sort of thing Tolkien might have come across.
